Justice, NetEase’s martial arts MMO, leads the way in its native China, with engrossing gameplay, a robust player base, and a continually-upgraded internally-developed engine called Night Blaze that’s at the forefront of tech.
In 2018, Justice’s Night Blaze engine added real-time ray-traced reflections, shadows and caustics, and NVIDIA DLSS. And now, Justice is introducing immersive real-time ray-traced global illumination lighting, powered by the NVIDIA RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI) SDK, to fill environments with realistic lighting that naturally bounces and reflects.
Justice is the world’s first game to feature NVIDIA RTX Global Illumination lighting.
Leveraging the power of ray tracing, the technique of RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI) provides highly efficient ways to compute indirect lighting without bake times, dramatically speeding up the iteration time of content creations. Unlike most previous GI implementations, RTXGI can handle infinite bounce lighting in real-time, while avoiding light or shadow leaking at the same time. It is also a scalable solution for real-time applications that have a tight frame budget through a low frequency approximation of the full path tracing process.
Using real-time ray-traced global illumination (GI), the lights are quite literally turned on, with light now bouncing from surface to surface, illuminating environments as in the real world. Without the benefit of ray tracing, developers must manually fake lighting, or pre-bake GI during the creation of the game. And while the results can appear excellent given enough time, effort and GPU horsepower, they can’t hold a candle to RTXGI, which dynamically adjusts lighting in real-time as the time of day changes, as clouds occlude light, as storms darken the skies, and as lightning strikes.
Even given a fixed time of day, RTXGI delivers vastly superior sights and scenes, with lighting realistically bouncing and diffusing from surface to surface, with the specific properties of each affecting how and where light propagates.
This unprecedented level of accuracy and fidelity comes courtesy of the newest NVIDIA RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI) SDK, which forms the basis of Justice’s GI implementation. This free SDK delivers scalable tech that has been highly optimized, giving developers a ready-made solution that’s faster and better than previous ray-traced GI implementations.
RTXGI is completely customizable, with the entire source code made available to partners via GitHub. And if a developer is building their title with Unreal Engine 4.25 or newer, an RTXGI plugin enables instant accelerated access, allowing them to craft content immediately.Studios across the globe have already signed up to incorporate RTXGI into their titles, and when they’re ready for prime time we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, learn more about RTXGI here, and check out news about other RTX titles.
