William Epting

William Epting is a research scientist at the US Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). Much of his research involves using AI and ML methods to accelerate simulations of energy systems and produce public-facing toolsets, to support the DOE’s clean energy goals. Energy technologies William works on include solid oxide fuel and electrolysis cells, industrial boilers, and carbon capture and sequestration systems He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2015, and his B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009.
