Power Profiles#

A power profile is a grouping of configurations, namely clock frequencies of different components, hardware units (enabled/disabled) and thermal settings of hotspots.

Note

DriveOS allows the system to run in two initial power modes and other customer customizable operation modes. See Power Modes for more details.

Supported Power Profiles#

Board

Power Profile (default)

P3960 (THOR-X)

MaxP-A-1090-D-01

P3960 (THOR-U)

MaxP-A-1080-D-01

To select a power profile other than default, pass the -w option along with the bind_partitions command as follows:

bind_partitions -b <board> <pct> -w <power_profile_name>
where,
      power_profile_name = [MAXP-A-1080-D-01, MAXP-A-1090-D-01]

There are two (2) power profiles currently supported, one for each specific Thor chip on the board; therefore, the -w option is not necessary to select the default power profiles. User are expected to verify the power profiles modified or created by them personally.

Note

The -D- (e.g., MAXP-A-1090-D-01) substring in the power profile name represents the development profile and must not be used in production until certified by NVIDIA. The power profiles in the table above, even though used for developement, are also verified to be used for safety production builds.
